Kim, from Kover to Kover Editing Services, is more than just a brilliant editor, she is an integral part of the creative process. I have worked with Kim now on four projects and am looking forward to working with her again on books both long and short. No matter the length of the work, Kim shows great attention to detail in every area. Nothing escapes her notice. From gaping plot holes to small grammar mistakes, Kim will find them, and do her level best to help an author correct them. In addition to showing attention to fine details, Kim has an investment in the characters of a work as well. She analyzes their development, their shortcomings and their choices; all of her efforts compile together to make a stronger work. Kim is a strong support to the authors she edits, and her passion in her work makes the final product so much more powerful.

I have worked with Kim on Angels Rising – in part – Angels Soaring, Angels Defying and Angels Falling. I don't believe that any of these works would be what they are today without her input.

- Harriet L. Carlton

I found Kim while conducting an on-line search looking for an editor. Boy, did I luck out.  Kim is much more that a great proof reader/editor.  She took the time to not only correct my many misspellings and grammatical errors, but also suggested how to better structure my sentences, improve content, as well as suggest changes to make my book easier to sell.  I especially liked her keen attention to detail. Furthermore, Kim always responded promptly (a rarity today with any profession) to all my questions and always made herself available.  Another great thing about her is Kim the person; she has a friendly personality and is easy to talk to.  I always felt very comfortable discussing my book with Kim.  Thanks to Kim my book is professional looking both inside and out.

I’ve ‘met’ Kim through Ebook Korner Kafé and Korner Kafé eXposed, the Facebook pages where she works her magic promoting books to thousands of avid readers. In the end of 2016, she posted about the editing services she offered and I was introduced to Kover to Kover and the amazing professional that is Kim Birdsell. She polished my manuscript until it shone with a light I wasn’t aware it possessed. She fell in love with my characters just as much as I loved them and made me feel proud of the story I had created. That’s something you can’t put a price tag on.
I’m a non-native speaker of English and even though I’ve been teaching the language for over twenty years, I’m aware of my limitations. Kim has always been not only supportive and encouraging as well as extremely patient with me. Working with her is a joy. So much so that after entrusting my novel Celtic Fire to her expert hands, I’ve hired Kim for the following 6 novellas on which I’ve been working for 6 different boxed sets. One has already been released (Anita - Make Time for Love) while the others will be available in the second half of 2017. I intend on keeping Kim busy for a long time. She inspires me to be a better writer at the same time as she helps me accomplish that. What else could I ask for?

I found Kim while frantically searching for someone who could complete a last-minute proofread of my manuscript.  My previous editor flaked on me, and I was only four days from my publishing deadline on my 90,000 word book.  I contacted Kim at about 8:00pm on Sunday evening, and asked if she would have time to proof my book by the following Thursday.  Within two hours, we had come to an agreement, and I sent her the manuscript.

Over the next several days, Kim continually communicated her status and worked hard to make me comfortable that my book was in good hands and would be completed on schedule.  Sure enough, Thursday rolled around and the finished manuscript arrived in my inbox.  I spent the next several hours poring over her edits, integrating them into the final formatted book.

I think I had a smile on my face the entire time – each corrected mistake made me realize how easy it would have been to release a book with hundreds of minor mistakes – and some major ones as well!  But, thanks to Kim, I was confident that my readers would be able to focus on my content, as opposed to my writing mistakes.  I wish I had found Kim when I was writing my first two books and I look forward to working with her again on all my future works.

Thanks Kim!

Kim Birdsell and Kover to Kover. Kim is the editor/proofreader we all dream of finding but few actually do. Not only has she slaved over two of my books but also, the advice, notes and middle of the night email exchanges made things work.
I pay her, but – she has gone the extra mile to make the books take on a finished quality. Although separated by 13,000 miles and twelve hours, she’s always there.

Blood and Brown Water

I chose Kim and Kover To Kover to edit my second book because of the stellar work she did on my first. She is thorough and professional.
She has kept me updated with regular emails, which is most important for a writer who has handed their "baby" over to someone else. The end result is always pleasing and, if she has any questions during the process regarding the story, or even to gauge a feel for a passage, etc., you can be sure she will be in touch.
Rest assured your book is in good hands when you choose Kover To Kover.
Alycia Demers

I awoke the other morning to find that the proofreader had returned the finished manuscript complete with her mark-up. At this point I should give her a large amount of credit for how the finished book reads.

Last year I was in the market for a proofreader/editor. My first book had never been touched by the original publisher - even though that was one of the promised services, when I went under contract with Publish America - they did nothing that was promised.

Kim Birdsell, on the other hand, has gone the extra mile.

My buddy and fellow author, Goose Gosweller, turned me on to her. His comment at the time was, 'I hear she's pretty good and thorough but, I have an editor and don't think I can afford her.'

I, on the other hand, had been looking for a good reliable editor for about six months at that point. I wanted to get two books edited then go back and clean-up 'The Duck Pond', which had become 'Blood and Brown Water'. I needed one bad!

Anyone, writing to get published, needs a good proofreader/editor. This is something that you just can't handle yourself. It takes that second set of 'professional' and, sometimes, pain-in-the-ass eyes to polish the book.

Others I'd talked to were too busy, more expensive, didn't have good press and other things.

Kim got back to me within days - that impressed me. I had just finished my last proofread/edit and a final (of 6) passes through spell checker, of 'Heart of War'. It's only one hundred pages so, it became her 'test' book.

I not only got it back in, what I considered, decent time - at a decent price - but i was sent the mark-up and sidebar notes. The deeper I got into her work, the more I realized that she knew her stuff.

To make sure, I went over every line of her mark-up, every note, the whole smash. What impressed me most was that, not only was there some email contact, to clear up some things and discuss some small problems, but she got into my style of writing. For an author and his work this is very important. In 'Heart' there is a feeling conveyed in the style of the book...it's the style of the military, the style of a young sailor jaded by everything he sees and experiences. It's gritty, it's raw and, it's got some profanity and, some sorrow...without that particular style the book would be flat as a Buckwheat pancake in February.

Kim got into that, she understood that, she proofread that. She finished the book, making it a good read. She also made me feel like I was the only client she had.

Kim has proven herself to be totally professional in every respect.I was finishing up 'Old Fool's Gold' and she got that one as well. It's a long one, she had people waiting, I gave her time off for good behavior...'Gold' is also over three times as much book as 'Heart'. When I got it back I only checked about 60 pages of mark-up then bulk accepted the remainder...yep, I could trust her to do good work.

I would recommend her to anyone. She's getting 'Blood and Brown Water' next and anything else I write - over twenty-five pages anyway. She's good and she's professional.

'Louis...this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.'

- Bob Johnston

Old Fool's Gold

Heart Of War

Kim and I began our relationship in June when I discovered her on Facebook. Sometimes, amidst all the social media noise, a gem is found and one was uncovered that day. I was curious when I saw Kim's ad appear on my newsfeed. I clicked it because I was, I thought, almost finished with my baby, On My Master's Table, and though I proof and edit work, this one is mine and a fresh pair of eyes was definitely a great idea. Unfortunately for me, the writing turned out to be far from done. I would get these periodic emails from Kim, just checking in, and these were truly the injections of encouragement that I needed to keep writing until God said we were done. Ever the tender, gifted, consummate professional, Kim handled OMMT expeditiously and with care. She is a treasured, valuable team member whom I highly endorse and will definitely partner with  her in the future.

On My Master's Table

This is the first time I have engaged an editing service and I am so pleased I chose Kover To Kover. Kim has been a dream to work with on my first book. She is professional yet personable, concise, timely and clear in what she can and will deliver, with regular updates on progress. I will definitely be using her services again and highly recommend Kim to any who are seeking an editor or proofreader.

"I have worked with Kim on a number of projects now and would not hesitate to recommend her services. I have worked with many editors in the past, and quality is seriously hard to come by. Thanks to Kim, I no longer have to worry about any editing headaches after drafting a book -- I just hand it off to her, and I KNOW the quality of edits will be great, her communication clear, and her delivery timely. When all is said and done, not only is she an absolute pleasure to work with (her emails are always uplifting and friendly!) but her edits will improve my stories significantly!"

"I researched and interviewed many editors for my first novel. I had no idea it would be such an arduous process. I struck gold with Kim at Kover to Kover. I could not be more satisfied with her service.

From the start of the process I felt like I was her only customer. She made the editing process personal. I never felt like just another author in the queue of hundreds of others. Kim understands how important an author's manuscript is and treats it with respect and dignity, but won't hesitate to slash and cut what needs to go.

Kim gave me a realistic timeline of how long she thought the editing would take and she actually finished ahead of schedule. She's a tireless professional. She regularly kept me up to date on her progress so I never felt forgotten.

Kover to Kover editing is second to none and I will never use another editing service.

She's always gone the extra mile when I've used her services, and her attention to detail as an editor is unmatched. "Very impressed with the quality of Kim's editing service, as well as her quick responses and reliable turn around. I would highly recommend her services to any writer needing a second pair of eyes (which is pretty much all of us) prior to publishing. While I didn't utilize her higher end services, I can only imagine that the quality is superb."

"Kim was wonderful to work with. She helped adjust to my schedule when I had a family emergency come up that pushed me back a week. Her corrections were clear and concise, saving me tons of time when making the edits. Any notes that she left were very helpful as well. I look forward to working with her in the future!"

ABOUT ME

Proud Mother.  Voracious Reader.  Gourmet Chef. Passionate Friend.  Defender of Grammar.  Domestic Zookeeper.  Indie Book Promoter Extraordinaire.

A keen eye for detail and a fiery red pen.  Laser-focused eyes seeking typographical and grammatical errors.  A perfect match, along with a very rewarding end result for both author and editor.

I am the VERY proud admin of Ebook Korner Kafé, formerly known as Kindle Korner.  For those of you here with me since the start, well...you remember that debacle..."the name change".  In spite of having to begin again, we came out bigger and better than we were before. It was a scramble, to say the least, with a deadline that gave unrealistic all new meaning.  Authors liked and shared and liked and shared again.  There may have been some pleading as well.  Readers went back and forth with me until we decided on the perfect name, because nothing less than perfect would do.  Together we made it happen and to this day, I am incredibly thankful.  Ebook Korner Kafé launched on October 20, 2012 and sits with 134,900+ "Likes".  I am truly grateful for each and every one of them.

So, how did I work my way to proofreading and editing, you might be wondering.  I'll take you way back to my "former life" in accounting for a moment.  I had the honor, if you will, to be the last set of eyes that read through any and all documents and financial reports.  If (and when) there was an error to be found, I found it.  So when I say errors (of all kinds) jump off the page at me, they do.  I've wondered quite often...is this a blessing or a curse?  Still with me on those mind-numbing accounting reports?  Yep, a curse.  ;-) And while I wouldn't trade those days or my experiences for anything, I am thrilled to have moved on to it being a blessing.

And with that blessing, I am going to run.  I have read countless books along the way, made corrections in my head, winced a few times and passed along constructive criticism.  Most times it was received with grace and appreciation.  Other times, not so much.  And that's okay.  I did my "job" and did what I would have wanted someone else to do for me.

Now, it is my job.  My fiery red pen and I eagerly await your manuscript and the privilege of ensuring perfection.

Just a little tidbit that might be of importance - I am not an Oxford comma kind of girl.  I imagine it goes back to my "old school" schooling, even though NO, I am not that old. Regardless, it screams at me when I see it.  That being said, I do realize that both are correct and will defer to your preference.

It's a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.
